Positive Energy

Today’s first day was full of positive energy.

Maybe, it was because kids got to visit the school and meet their teachers with their families before school started.

Maybe, it was because as kids entered, they were greeted with smiles and warm welcomes instead of a blast of hand sanitizer.

Maybe it was because we could see each other, eyes on one another instead of focusing on dodging germs.

Maybe it was because we were able to gather as a staff prior to school starting. I like to think the work we did around reprioritizing a sense of belonging during the first few weeks of school was heard loud and clear.

Maybe it was because kids were ready to come back to school. Ready to greet their new teachers and reunite with their friends.

Maybe it was because we were all grateful to be there, no longer taking being together for granted.

Maybe it was because we all needed a fresh start.

Maybe it was because schools are a magical place.

Today’s first day was full of positive energy.

Today gave me hope for tomorrow.

  1. So glad you had a great start to the school year! I think it’s the absence of worry that’s helping me. Maybe not a complete absence, but certainly less than we felt last year!

  2. I like all the maybe’s here & how they come together to bring hope for tomorrow. This also gives me hope for when our students arrive next week. I agree that we no longer take being together for granted; may that grant this year a little of the magic you talk about.
