I committed before I really knew what I was committing to. I wondered if I’d be able to do it. What could I possible write about for 31 consecutive days? I’m an avid blog reader, not a blog writer. Although I had dreamed of it, this was just the push I needed to throw out the excuses and the promise of tomorrow…to write today.
I set out on a quest for joy and I found it, each and every day. Some days were harder than others, but if I looked hard enough I saw it or it found me in unexpected places. Some moments flowed easily, some drummed in my head for hours, not ready to escape.
I found joy in the process. The hunt for ideas, the drafting in my mind, the quiet time at my computer while everyone else was sleeping. The early morning posts, stealing a few minutes to read what others had written. Starting each day off with my brain buzzing with images, ideas, and wonders.
I made connections to people, some virtually and some in real life. I found people who had ideas that resonated with me. I shared posts with colleagues and friends, inspired by what I read and what those words made me feel.
I was touched that people took the time to read my writing and provide thoughtful and caring feedback. Some people returned day after day, cheering me on. Celebrating with me. 31 days as writing buddies just might turn into lifelong connections.
Today, I celebrate the end of my first Slice of Life Challenge. I hope that this sense of accomplishment and community stays with me and pushes me to continue writing until the next challenge. I am a grateful slicer. Grateful to have followed through. Grateful for the moments I have captured. Grateful for this amazing community of people. Grateful to be a writer.
I feel like I’ve made a friend. Thanks for your encouragement and inspiration. See you here in the virtual world soon. Xxoo

My favorite line: “I found joy in the process.” That may be the secret to the well-lived life. I love your quests for joy – I believe it’s there. Like gold or diamonds, we sometimes have to dig for it, but it’s there. I count you among the joys of this Slice challenge!
